If you look at the fantastic art works of Gaudi eg by walking through Barcelona you immediately realize his original style and his never ending creative power.

Where did he find his inspiration?

He looked at former periods, because he believed that “art is learned from examples which are the works of the past”. His inspiration is also felt: the greek roman mosaics, roman frescoes, gothic architecture… all included in his buildings. Besides architecture he also worked in the field of applied arts with pottery and created iron candleholders or stain glass. As major inspiration in this field served the nature. He was one of the artists striving for the “Gesamtkunstwerk” and even used his genius for the grater glory of God.
